Mari Shimizu was engaged in a wide range of international trade legal affairs for about 10 years at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, including negotiations of WTO/FTA rules, handling of dispute settlement procedures (drafting submissions, conducting oral arguments etc. ), and providing legal advice under international trade law on various domestic and foreign regulations. She has diverse expertise in international trade law related matters, including government investigations of trade remedies (e.g. anti-dumping measures) and other trade matters, various international economic dispute settlement procedures, legal analysis of trade measures of various countries (United States, EU, China, Southeast Asia etc.) based on international trade law and domestic laws and regulations, economic security-related matters, trade-related aspects of environmental regulations (including climate change measures) and labour regulations.
