Newsletter "EU Legal Update (March 2025)" has been published.
The European Commission has issued new guidelines on the definition of an artificial intelligence (AI) system and as to practices that are deemed unacceptable under the AI Act, to provide clarity on the scope of the AI Act. Due to the AI Act’s extraterritorial scope, non-EU businesses must evaluate their compliance with these regulations. Non-compliance with the prohibitions contained in the Prohibited Practices Guidelines can result in fines of up to EUR 35 million or 7% of worldwide annual turnover. This newsletter outlines key aspects of the AI Act, focusing on the definition of "AI systems" and prohibited practices, to assist companies in navigating the evolving regulatory landscape and ensuring compliance within the EU market.
