Trends in European Regulation (Digital Regulations, Foreign Subsidy Rules, Court Rulings on Extraterritorial Document Access by EU Authorities)
The European Commission is actively updating regulations in the digital sector. To mark the first anniversary since the publication of the Draghi report, President von der Leyen held a dialogue with Professor Draghi, reaffirming the urgent need for regulatory reform. The Digital Package on Simplification is also now in place to develop digital regulations in accordance with the feedback received from the Digital Omnibus and the Digital Fitness Check. Additionally, the FSR guidelines are expected to be updated based on insights gained from a recent public consultation. Finally, the President of the General Court ruled that the European Commission, when investigating potential violations of EU law, has the power to compel disclosure of documents stored outside the EU by non-EU companies.
