EU’s First Review of the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, and Google’s €890 Million DMA Fine

The European Commission published its first formal review of the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, concluding that the regime is functioning effectively while identifying targeted procedural simplifications to reduce compliance burdens. Separately, the EC fined Google a combined €890 million for breaches of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act relating to self-preferencing in Google Search and restrictions on app developers’ ability to steer users to alternative purchasing channels.
