Africa

Africa is a resource-rich continent with a population exceeding 1 billion people, making it an attractive market for the financial and business investments of Japanese and other multinational companies. We have established an "Africa Practice Team" in our Tokyo Office which cooperates with the local law firms as needed. The Africa Practice Team lawyers regularly provide legal guidance to many Japanese and other multinational companies making investments in Africa, working closely with a local counsel when local legal advice is required. AMT has built strong relationships with leading law firms in Africa by collaborating with such firms on a wide range of legal matters. By leveraging these relationships, we are able to provide a wide range of expert legal guidance on matters in or relating to business in Africa, with cooperation from local law firms. Some representative matters include establishment of a local presence, establishment of joint ventures, and M&A matters by Japanese and other multinational companies.
