Western Africa (Nigeria and certain other African countries)

Africa is a resource-rich continent with a population exceeding 1 billion people, making it an attractive market for the financial and business investments of Japanese and other multinational companies. We have established an "Africa Practice Team" in our Tokyo Office which regularly provides legal guidance to many Japanese and other multinational companies making investments in Africa, working closely with local counsel whenever local legal advice is required. Recently, investors have been looking at Nigeria, which has the largest population in Africa and is expected to enjoy high economic growth, as the right place to invest in Western Africa. Furthermore, due to a government initiative that has been pushing for the development of digital technology in Nigeria, Nigeria has become a focus of worldwide attention among start-up companies. AMT has built strong relationships with leading law firms in Western Africa by collaborating with them. By leveraging these relationships, we are able to provide a wide range of expert legal guidance on matters in or relating to investments and/or expansion of businesses in Western Africa with a focus on Nigeria.
